Insurance

We work with several vision and medical insurance plans that are in network with our office. The information below will help you see which plans we accept and how they can be used for your visit.

What’s the Difference Between Vision Insurance and Medical Insurance?

Vision Insurance

Vision insurance plans, such as VSP and EyeMed, are designed to cover routine eye care. These plans typically cover routine eye exams for glasses and sometimes contact lenses, and they may offer discounts on glasses or contact lens purchases. Vision insurance does not cover evaluations or testing for eye diseases or medical eye conditions. This includes visits for symptoms such as eye irritation, dryness, itchiness, diabetic eye exams, glaucoma evaluations, or other medical concerns.

Medical Insurance

Medical insurance plans, such as BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, are used when an eye visit is related to a medical condition and must be PPO plans. Please note that HMO plans are not accepted. These plans allow our office to evaluate and treat symptoms such as eye pain, irritation, dryness, redness, or itchiness, as well as diagnose and manage eye diseases including glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration. Medical insurance typically does not cover refractions for glasses prescriptions or contact lens evaluations.
